My childminding service is adapted to suit the children I am caring for, based on their age, ability, interests, etc.
I encourage lots of outdoor play in all weathers (safety considered!) to develop their interest and love of nature and adventure. I also offer a variety of indoor activities and experiences each day, to keep them occupied and stimulated, and to help their learning and development. I help the children to do cooking and creative activities regularly, and I also have other activities which I offer occasionally such as bouncy castle, face painting, paddling pool.
I take the children to local children’s centres, toddler groups, parks and outings, library, etc.
I live next a large field and woods which we use regularly.
Each morning in term time I take the older children to school, and collect them in the afternoon. I also have a few evenings when I drop off or collect children from after school clubs. Please discuss with me if your child attends any after school clubs as I may be able to take or collect them.
At times I do allow the children to watch television and dvd’s, or play computer games. This can help children to relax and have quiet time, especially after school or a busy morning. I carefully monitor the time that children spend on these activities and make sure they are balanced with other activities, and also the type of dvd’s and games to make sure they are suitable for the children’s ages.
During school holidays I may take the children for outings further afield, but I would discuss this with you first, and ask for your permission.
If your child is aged 0-5 years I will follow the EYFS framework, to support their learning and development. I will make observations and records of your child’s development which will be available for you to look at. I will use these records to help me to plan for further activities and experiences to further their learning and extend their interests. You are welcome to look at examples of my planning systems if you wish when you visit. You will be kept informed about your child’s progress, given opportunities to view their record folder and I will discuss with you your child’s “next steps” as they develop.
If you are worried about any of the activities I have mentioned above please discuss your concerns with me before they start.
