Confidentiality, data protection and Social networking Policy
Any information you provide regarding your child and family will remain confidential. I have a secure place for all written information and this is not accessible to anyone other than me. I am registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) and follow their guidance on processing personal information.
I will always seek your permission before sharing information about your child with another person, for instance if I wanted to take your child to a children’s centre and need to register him/ her there.
The only time I would breech this would be for safeguarding reasons and for the protection of your child, if seeking your permission may put your child at risk of serious harm or danger. More information can be found in my safeguarding children policy.
Other information I gather about your child, such as photographs, development records, information from school teachers, etc. will also be treated as confidential.
When a child starts I ask permission from parents to use some information about children within my home for display purposes, such as photographs for albums and display boards.
Social networking
There are now a variety of different internet based social networks and whilst these provide excellent means for communicating and sharing of information, they also can be used to bully, intimidate and cause problems.
I use Facebook groups for child minders to exchange and share best practices and ideas with other local and national child minders. I will never put information or share photographs which can be used to identify a child or their family.
I ask that all parents and carers do not share any information or photographs that myself or other members upload onto the closed group on their own personal profiles which may identify another child or their family, or write direct or indirect suggestive comments about my childminding service on their online profiles.
It is important that information which pinpoints my address, or planned whereabouts (i.e. information about outings, times etc.) is never put online on public pages for the safety and security of all children.
Tiny Treasures Facebook page- I have a closed Facebook page for parents/carers in order that we can share information in a quick and efficient way which is easily accessible to those that are given access.
I am the administrator for this page and it is for the immediate parents/carers of children attending only, in the event that your child no longer attends Tiny Treasures you will be removed from the Facebook group.
The privacy settings of the Facebook page will only allow those parents / carers invited to the group to view. I will ask for written permission from parents / carers before they join the group and before any information/photographs about themselves, their child or family can be posted. Parents can choose whether they would like information only and /or photographs and will be asked to sign permission for each option specifically.
Both myself and parents / carers must ensure that any photographs of children shared in the group are appropriate for others to view, and maintain children’s privacy. Photographs should not show any other child without prior permission from their parent/ carer.
